Why Northeast Minneapolis?

In October 2008, Antioch Community Church had it’s first public worship services in Minneapolis. To many attendees, that was their first time hearing of us. But the roots of what would become Antioch had been planted years before. For those of us who were in the Core Team, the first service was a result of over a year of prayer, research, networking, decision making, and preparation. For Pastor Andy and the leaders in our EFCA District, the dream of a church plant in NE Minneapolis had started years before that. And long before any of us were aware of the gospel need in this community, the Lord was laying the foundations for us to serve here.

How are we serving the Northeast Minneapolis community?

We partnered with Loaves & Fishes with plans of being a hot meal location, but when the pandemic hit in March 2020 we shifted our focus. Since then we hand out free groceries to the public every Tuesday, with the food coming from the Loaves & Fishes warehouse as a HUB partner. We also get a monthly food delivery from Second Harvest Heartland.

We get to serve hundreds of people through this ministry, many of whom are not yet interested in coming on a Sunday morning and we would never meet otherwise. Individual young adults, single parents, large families, and senior citizens all come regularly. Word has spread around the northeast neighborhood which is exciting to see. If you are interested in joining us to help with logistics or to talk and pray with people, sign up on Church Center, talk to Pastor Darrius, or just come by!
